Moving to Artavia, Conroe and want the straight answer on schools and commutes? Here it is: the community feeds through Conroe ISD's Caney Creek pattern, from San Jacinto Elementary up to Caney Creek High School, and the daily destinations sit roughly 11 to 40 miles from the front door, from downtown Conroe and The Woodlands at one end to downtown Houston at the other. This guide walks through the 2026 school picture, the drive times for the routes people actually use, and the two verification steps a smart buyer runs on a specific address like 15500 Leopard Lily Ln.

Which Conroe ISD schools serve Artavia?

Artavia is zoned through Conroe ISD, the district that covers this corner of Montgomery County, and the documented feeder path runs through the Caney Creek pattern:

  • San Jacinto Elementary for elementary school. It is the campus absorbing much of the growth from Artavia.
  • Grangerland Intermediate for intermediate school, the next step in the pattern.
  • Moorhead Junior High for junior high.
  • Caney Creek High School as the home high school for the feeder.

Conroe ISD uses an elementary, intermediate, junior high, high school progression, so a child can complete the whole route within the same feeder. That is the pattern Artavia's developer and Conroe ISD both list for the community, and it is the first thing to know before you compare a resale and a new build.

What changed recently: a new elementary campus and an on-site school site

Two school headlines matter for Artavia buyers in 2026. First, Conroe ISD opened Mittie J. Campbell Elementary in August 2025 at 15895 Stonecrest Drive, and the district created it in part to relieve enrollment pressure at San Jacinto from Artavia's growth. Campbell is a flexible pre-K through 6th grade campus, and its students feed into either the Caney Creek or the Oak Ridge high school pattern depending on the home address, so the assignment at the street level is what counts.

Second, Conroe ISD closed on 15.75 acres inside Artavia in early 2023 for a future on-site elementary or intermediate campus in the community itself. No construction start date has been announced, but the land purchase is a signal that the district expects this area to keep growing, which is exactly why boundaries get rechecked.

How far is the commute, really?

Artavia sits on SH 242 between I-45 and US 59, about 11 miles from The Woodlands, and a second entrance on Highway 1314 opened in February 2025 to improve access from the east. The drive times below are typical estimates in normal traffic, not rush-hour promises:

  • Downtown Conroe historic square. About 11 miles, roughly 15 to 25 minutes. The shortest of the daily runs, and the one residents use for the farmers markets and downtown events.
  • The Woodlands. About 11 miles, roughly 20 to 25 minutes, for the big retail, dining, and the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion concert calendar.
  • Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). About 30 miles, roughly 35 to 40 minutes in normal traffic, with the Hardy Toll Road as the faster toll alternative.
  • Downtown Houston. About 40 miles, roughly 45 to 60 minutes in normal traffic, and peak traffic on I-45 can stretch the drive to 75 to 90 minutes.
  • Lake Conroe. About 20 to 25 minutes north for weekend boating and the lakeside resorts.

For office days, the Conroe Park & Ride offers express bus service to downtown Houston, about a 42-minute ride, which is a real option for anyone commuting into the city several days a week. The Grand Parkway (SH 99) runs south of the community, and I-45 is roughly seven miles west of the neighborhood, with US 59 about eight miles east via FM 1314.

Two checks to run on your exact address

Both of these matter more than square footage, and both are quick:

  1. Confirm the school boundary. Boundaries in Conroe ISD shift as campuses open and rezone, and Campbell's arrival already changed assignments for part of this area. Run the exact street address, including 15500 Leopard Lily Ln, through Conroe ISD's attendance boundary tool, and run the same check for any spec home you compare it against.
  2. Ask about the tax structure. Artavia sits under a MUD and conservation district structure, and recent community guides put the combined rate at about 2.99% before exemptions. Rates change and vary by property, so your title company will pull the exact number for the specific house before closing.

What this means for 15500 Leopard Lily Ln

The practical version of all of this for the listing: the house is in the same Caney Creek feeder as the newest Artavia construction, on a 15,540 sq ft cul-de-sac lot that is more than double the builder lots listed nearby, and finished right now, so there is no slab wait between the boundary check and move-in. Dapple Park's five-acre lake, its trails, and the Palate Cafe are a short walk away, and the commute math above starts from a settled neighborhood rather than a promise. Browse the photo gallery to see the house itself, or read the neighborhood page for the full school, commute, and local food map.

School information reflects Conroe ISD announcements and community sources as of September 17, 2026, including artaviatx.com, Conroe ISD (Campbell Elementary opening and the on-site land purchase), and the Westin Homes Artavia community page. Drive times are typical estimates from community guides and drive-time calculators, not GPS measurements, and peak traffic varies. Confirm boundary assignments with Conroe ISD and tax figures with your title company before closing.
